Produce

The produce department at The Merc is second to none. It is always bursting full of the freshest greens and hand selected fruits and vegetables. During the growing season, our produce section is chock full of local fruits and vegetables from throughout the county. The Leelanau peninsula is fortunate to generate top of the line produce and we welcome all of it. During the warm months you are able to find everything local from asparagus, green beans, sweet corn, lettuces, and squashes, to the sweetest strawberries, apples, raspberries, peaches, and much more. Our aisles are full of local produce all summer long, and we are always looking for more items to try.
Local vendors include Bardenhagen Farms, Burda's Berry Farm, Meadowlark Farms, Leelanau Hydroponics Produce, Versnyder Fruit, TLC Tomatoes, Covered Wagon Farm Market, and many more local farmers and growers. During the off-season our shelves remain full of fresh fruits and vegetables. Our organic items are increasing month by month. We now are offering organic lettuces, spinach, carrots, apples, and all natural juices and smoothies, including the POM brand pomegranate juices. We will always be increasing our organic and natural products as they are available and recognize and encourage the recent trends towards these items.
